I Want my iSync Back

Prior to my iPhone, my previous phones all had bluetooth which would seamlessly sync my contacts with address book without ever thinking about it. As much as I love my iPhone, why would apple not support iSync with their own phones.. I understand not syncing music, photos and video via bluetooth (because it would take so long), but they should support contacts. Even some kind of .Mac Sync would be nice…

I don’t get it? Am I missing something in your post? The iPhone syncs your AddressBook contacts and iCal calendars everytime you plug it in to it’s cradel through iTunes. Have you not clicked the “Information” tab in iTunes when the phone is plugged in?

iSync was pretty much put out to pasture 2 years ago when they basically stopped updating it and using it for syncing iPods and rolled that all into iTunes and moved the .Mac syncing into the system preferences pane.

Yes, you can of course update your phone while its plugged into USB, but why make it sync while plugged in only. Seems like we are going sorta backwards in the way we sync.

Well I don’t know what your AddressBook looks like, but mine has 387 contacts and the data file itself is over 1Mb. If I recall from the days I had a Sony/Ericsson T68i any changes to my contacts would take about 3 minutes to complete over Bluetooth as the address book database is a single flat file that would have to be transferred in its entirety each time. Bluetooth is s l o o o o o w. USB 2.0 however is 600 times faster.

Even over wifi would be great. There is 3rd party software that does such as WiSync
