Jobs Interview - On Rentals and NBC
January 17th, 2008 at 8:09 amBusiness week posted an interview with Steve Jobs about Rentals and NBC. Which starts out with Steve Jobs calling Peter Burrows (the interviewer) story “Pretty Dumb”, Jobs referring to the Steve Jobs’ Video Dreams story published Jan 10th 2008, which claimed Sony and Universal would not support iTunes rentals.
Jobs says he had to settle with the 30 Day iTunes rental delay, so studios can “rack up DVD Sales”. He thinks one day they will allow simultaneous releases online and DVD.
Jobs talks about NBC Universal pulling TV content from iTunes, predicting the stalemate between them won’t last forever, because everyone lost between the two great companies. Jobs then says half joked “there was a writers’ strike, so it didn’t matter as much as it might have.”
