Mac OS X Leopard Edition The Missing Manual

Last month I reviewed The Missing Manual Leopard Edition by David Pogue (Link). I really enjoyed the book and found it to be to best book out for leopard by far, but I did find one minor mistake in the book, on page 486 “Shared Data Files” where Pogue explains how to use iTunes music with two accounts on one computer.

Mr. Pogue writes me back today “Oh, yikes… I think you’re right!”, and explains next print will have this resolved.

The Corporate Security Thieves Are Coming to Mac

Personally, I’m sick and tired of all of these security firms coming up with over exaggerated or false security threats about OSX. The truth is, this is just a ploy to make more money, causing people to panic if their computers in danger, so they buy their software. Now that macs are becoming more and more popular, expect to see some of these anti-virus, malware, security software companies claiming how unsafe OSX is without their software.

I know OSX isn’t 100% secure, but neither is any OS. I do think OSX is much more secure and safer than windows by far! It’s amazing how many windows computers I fix a week because of malware, viruses and trojans, but I’ve never seen a mac computer come in for any of these issues.

iTunes Adds TBS, TruTV and Burton Studios

iTunes Adds two new Networks TBS and TruTV. Currently TBS only has two shows on iTunes FrankTV and 10 items or less. TruTV currently has Speeders, Murder by the book and Most Shocking.

iTunes Also added a new Studio, Burton Studios which is all about snowboarding.

Currently TBS and TruTV both have a pretty low amount of shows, but we can expect more to come soon.

Leopard 10.5.2 Gives DVD or CD Sharing for everyone?

According to babygotmac.com Leopard 10.5.2 will have DVD/CD Sharing option built in. Along with the other rumored items like network time machine backups, better stacks and translucent menu bar options.
